Live Scan Fingerprinting: Southern Illinois Fingerprinting (SIF), Live Scan & Notary Service, provides computerized fingerprinting services, out of state & In-state ink hard cards, Passport Photos and Notary Services. For conviction information & background check requirements, the SIF Livescan system digitally captures fingerprint submissions and transmits them directly to the Illinois State Police, Bureau Of Identification (BOI) (20 ILCS 2635/1 et seq.) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Immediately.
What are the Benefits of Live Scan?
The Live Scan process helps in avoiding many of the problems associated with ink prints, such as smudging, smearing, and over or under inking. One benefit of Live Scan, is that your fingerprints are transmitted directly to the State of Illinois, Illinois State Police, and/or the FBI. The proper authorities will conduct a background check and based on your fingerprints, results are sent within 5 – 7 working days to your employer or licensing agency.
How Does the Process Work?
A Trained and Certified Technician will scan your fingerprints using a Live Scan machine. The electronic fingerprinting session only takes five to ten minutes and your prints are immediately sent nightly via electronic transmission to the appropriate FBI-Certified channeling agencies for background processing. The technician will collect all the appropriate fees from you (the live scan applicant) prior to taking and processing your Fingerprints.
